Congratulations! You are now the owner of a brand spankin’ new online, mlm, business. That’s the good news. You may not be prepared for what comes next.
Your sponsor made it look so easy. All you do is sign up a few, who sign up a few. Right? Where do those few come from? As a newby the first place you are told to go is your family and friends. So off you go. Aunt Jane should be easy to recruit after all, she is the one that gave you $500 for graduation. Full of enthusiasm you begin, “Aunt Jane, I have this awesome business I just started! You have got to join me! We’re going to save the planet! We’re going to be rich beyond our wildest dreams. Please, Aunt Jane won’t you join my home based business opportunity?” To which Aunt Jane says a resounding “NO”, in a tone you have never heard before. Welcome to your first network marketing experience.
After a few Aunt Janes, you start to doubt what you are doing. How did your sponsor make it look so easy? It all comes down to experience and training. I am fairly sure, that your sponsor did not step off the boat yesterday. They have taken the time to cultivate relationships with people, who will at any moment sit up and take notice of what they are doing. Whether they have been in your company 20 minutes or 20 years, it is safe to say that they have paid their dues. Perhaps you have formed some of those same types of relationships. Great. They will prove valuable in your network marketing career. These are the type of people you want to approach with your business first. While Aunt Jane may love you, it is quite likely that she does not see you as a business partner.
